Blind zipperfoot
Sewing of a blind zipper.
In general:
Blind zippers are available in three lenghts n.l. 22, 40 en 60 cm.
Choose your zipper at least 2 cm longer than neededt.
The sew the blind zipper your need a special sewing foot.
First, sew in the zipper, only then, sew the seam below the zipper.
Use a straight stitch, with needle in the centre position.
Sewing the blind zipper:
Open the zipper and iron the teeth of the zipper, use the iron on wool setting.
This is needed to be able to stitch near the teeth of the zipper.
Put the left side of the opened zipper on the left side of the fabric, right sides together.
Pin or baste with the teeth of the needle just outside the marking of the seam.
Put fabric on the the foot of the machine, with the teeth in the left groove of the zipperfoot.
Sew the zipper from top to bottom, as far as possible.
Pull zipper close and baste or pin the right side of the zipper on the fabric, right sides together.
Make sure stripes and checkered fabrics match.
Open zipper and put presser feet on the top of the zipper, with the teeth in the right groove of the zipperfoot.
Sew zipper from top to bottom as far as possible.
Pull zipper close and baste or pin the seam below the zipper.
Pull the loose end of the zipper towards the seam.
Sew the seam close towards the zipper. Try to sew as close as possible to the zipper.
A tiny opening will always be there, but this is not visible on the right side.
