Sewing machine skips stitches
The most common cause of a sewing machine skipping stitches is a problem with the sewing machine needle or the thread.
Please proceed as follows:
- First put a new needle in your machine (even if the needle still looks good, do it anyway)
The needle may be slightly bent, even if you can not see the bend. It may have developed a dull point from use, or it may have a nick in it. - If you have elastic fabric, always put a stretch needle in the machine.
- For leather or jeans you always use a leather needle or jeans needle.
- Always use the same (good) sewing thread at the top and bottom.
